The poetry used to spread the message of Allah is the
best poetry which comes under the category of ‘poetry containing wisdom.'
I grew up in an Islamic home, well my dad is Muslim and I
grew up with him which automatically makes me Muslim. I use to wear the
garments at one point in my life but I was bullied in school and was forced to
dress normal. Since then I never really functioned as a Muslim but the belief
was always there, I wanted to rejoin when I was 18 but by then Trinidad was
infested with Muslim people joining the religion for the wrong reasons
especially in the area where I live and my dad said he doesn't want me to
rejoin and if you know anything about me what my dad says or wants my dad gets.
#onlychild #daddyslittlegirl. Well I
like to write poetry and many times my Muslim friends (the ones i read my poetry
for) and my dad would tell me that it is Haram ( an act that is forbidden by
Allah) so i did my own research and what I basically got from my research is
that poems sell people dreams it makes them fantasize on things that are not
true and can't be obtainable and Allah doesn't like people who mislead others,
some people also referred to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a poet when he
would recite the Quran and Allah said he is too high of a person (the greatest
man ever lived, according to Muslims) to be a poet.
But according to my research in Islam poets are
acceptable if they preach the the words of Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
which is understandable.
Now my opinion on this is that is that I like poetry ,
its my form of therapy so why should I stop ,and the answer is clear because
Allah doesn't like poems that are not about Islam or portraying the religion in
a positive light, but maybe it's not all that bad, I think people read into
things a little to much hence the word "Extremist". I mean if I am
not hurting or misleading anyone with my words then I feel like I should write
what I feel, Who takes poetry seriously anyway? Like who? I can see people
taking Rap music seriously and wanting that "lifestyle" that these
rappers advertise and rap music is a form of poetry but maybe just like the
extremist they are taking it a little to far. So while some of my poems may not
be about islam I hope to not mislead anyone with my writing because Phophet
Muhammed (PBUH) says ‘If the belly of a man were to be filled with pus, that
would be better for him than being filled with poetry.” Scary right and I do believe in Allah and his
teachings and the Prophet (PBUH). What are your thought on islam and poetry? Do
you think Muslims are being extreme or do you think poetry should be forbidden.
Now I wrote this blog to mainly introduce you guys to an
amazing Muslim poet I found on youtube, I admire him because of his wisdom the
way he put his words together and because of his style of spoken word, his
pronunciation and exaggeration of the
words he is truly a muslim talent.
The first time I heard him was in a response to

More of his work, talented poet
Informative post. I've read about poetry from the Arab world, but a lot of it was pre-Islam. I'm glad you continue to pursue your craft despite the rigid restrictions of some.
