Introduction: The Word Korner

Hi there everyone! Welcome to my blog "The Word Korner". This blog was created for my Communication via Social Networking class but it is something I wanted to do for a very long time, I was just too shy. I am a closeted poet and according to my loved ones and pairs I have potential. should I believe them? I guess you will be the judge. I remember the first poem I wrote which was when I was in primary school, I forgot my book bag in  school and being the nerd that I was and still is I wanted to do something to replace my home work which was due for the next day. So my dad had this great idea for me to write a poem, it was about colours I can't remember it word for word but it started off, "Different colours represents". blue is for the sky #duhhh
When I took the poem to class my teacher didn't read it right away she actually took about a month. Everyday I would ask annoyingly "Miss yuh read the ting?"  "Miss yuh read the ting?" Until one day she had that spear time, maybe she was going to trash it? Hey I never thought of that... lol. #notcoolmiss

I remembered my entire class and random teachers and students in the school complimenting me which was weird for me because I wasn't a noticed student, but it boasted my confidence.
I started writing more, just for no one to read or hear. By adulthood I began writing more frequent for functions at my lame OJT job, for weddings etc.

Being good with words is something I got from my dad (he sings Calypso/Extempo) and being shy is something I got from my mom, not a good combination if you want to be recognized and put yourself out there, I guess that's why they didn't make it (lol). #totalopposites.

So this semester I'm going to challenge myself, not only am I going to post  videos, documents, audio with my poetry but I intend to do Spoken Word poetry only which if you didn't already know takes alot of confidence if you want to get your message across. There are many other types of poetry which I will post a list of but I will focus on spoken word. Something that is new to me.
